My First Blog Awards - Thank you!

Hello Everyone!
So some fun news today - I was nominated for a bunch of cute blog awards in the past little while - very nice of the bloggers who thought of me. Thank you guys so much!
There are quite a few conditions when you get an award so I will try to keep this post from being too long : )
Thanks again everyone and congratulations to those who have now received the awards :)
Much love!

So Ashley at Topography Toward a Parallel Universe nominated me for this award. Thanks so much!
The rules are as follows:
1) Link back to the person who gave the award.
2) Write 7 facts about myself.
3) Nominate 15 blogs and tell them.
4) When  finished inform the blogger who awarded you.

So here we go:
1. I love sour cream. I eat it every single day.
2. I am obsessed with shoes and clothing and all things fashion.
3. When I was a child (2years +) my favourite musician was Mozart. He is still awesome.
4. I love Russian nesting dolls aka Matryoshka.
5. I am Peter Mansbridge's #1 fan (my sister and I are actually tied as his #1 fans)
6. My first pet was a pigeon named Bert. We loved him so much - I even drew pictures of him.
7. I was born on my Grandfather's Birthday.

My nominations in no particular order (except my Mother and Sister who are #1 and #2):
1. Tracy from Expression Express
2. Priscilla from The Benterud Bookshelf
3. Dominey from The Wardrobe Fetish
4. Steffy from Steffy's Pros and Cons
5. Shasie from Live Life In Style
8. Jess from Love Life Labels
9. Za from Shoeocracy
10. Kat from Kats Love Fashion
11. Breanne from Flattery
13. Ari from Ari Sunshine

The other blog awards were all in one post together from Jess at Love Life Labels.
Thank you so much Jess!

So I am supposed to nominate 10 people for this award as well and then tell you 10 things about me. Is it cheating if I combine the 10 things about me with the 7 things I already told you? I don't think so : )
8. My favourite character on Star Trek when growing up was Data.
9. I don't like licorice.
10. I wish that I could travel somewhere new every month - I love experiencing new places/cultures.
I am going to nominate all of the 15 people above for this award as well (with the exception of Jess who awarded me this one!)
In Jess's place I will nominate Ashley from Topography Toward a Parallel Universe.

Thanks again everyone!
Tomorrow I am planning to show you what I have been up to and the new additions to my closet, so stay tuned ! : )

Industrial Concrete

These photos were taken a while ago in the fire escape in my building - solid concrete. Not quite the best setting for photos (not a lot of light) but it was an experiment and we (Aren and I) had fun taking the pictures anyways! It has been rainy/cloudy here so I am trying to think of new alternate indoor locations for my pictures. The banisters came out really brownish and I have no idea how the shopping cart got in there.
The blouse I am wearing is a vintage one I picked up a while back at a thrift store - I love the vibrant colour!
I am so happy that colour is back in - not because it is "ok" to wear it but because it means that the stores will be offering MORE of it. I'm sure you've been noticing this too.
Exciting! : )
I have seen quite a few things I love online and in the shops- good thing my birthday is coming up soon!
I will be taking holidays right after my birthday too (it's in July) so there will probably be a few more "experimental" locations.
Where is your favourite place to take outfit photos? Indoors/Outdoors?

Where Can I Get More Time?

Does anyone else feel overwhelmed by life sometimes? This week there seems to be so much that I want to do and so much that I have to do and I just can't seem to find the time! I pulled an all-nighter the other day just to try and keep up. If there was some way I could add a few hours to my day I would for sure! So in case you wanted to know why I am so busy: taking pictures for the blog, shopping/cooking/baking, cleaning the house/deck, planting (late I know) flowers, finishing a quilt, sewing, laundry, blogging, reading, packing (to go to my parents), finishing various projects, etc etc.
I need a nap : )
I am keeping things simple with this one - a cute short dress with a refashioned sweater vest and some boots with socks. Simple, comfy and it still looks good. These kind of outfits are a mainstay for me when I just don't have time for anything else.

What is your go-to outfit/style of outfit when you don't have time to experiment?

Cloudy With A Chance Of Sun

Good morning everyone! I am hoping that you are enjoying some sunny weather wherever you may be. I have been really busy around the house the last few days getting "ready" for summer. I know summer is here (pretty much) but I needed to give the deck a good sweep and get out the lawn furniture and flower pots.
This is not what I wore while doing that! : )
I like this outfit because it is summery yet still keeps me warm when the clouds cover all the sunshine.
In other news - I bought some new things at the thrift store and I have been working on a plethora of new projects. I intend on sharing them online sometime soon so stay tuned!

How about you? Any projects in the works? Any plans for flowers/plants? Do you already have a garden going?

Life Is A Highway - With Rivers

So I guess when a person schedules a post they actually have to hit publish in order for it to appear...... my bad folks. I was traveling the last few days and had scheduled some posts for you - apparently they didn't post. Oops!
Sorry you guys.
On the way from my Parent's place back to our home we stopped and took these pictures on the side of the highway. What a picturesque little location! I love the water and the trees and how alive everything was. I am always happiest when summer comes around! I had braided my hair to get a wavier look since
it is normally pin straight.
What do you think?
Do you have any favourite spots to hang out in the summer time?

Shopping Trip Chic - Keeping It Simple

I wore this outfit a few weeks ago when Aren and I went out shopping. I know! I broke my own rule and went shopping with a friend (husband). That's not really the truth though because I went out alone and then Aren and his brother met up with me later so we could go out for dinner.
I always like to see what kinds of sales/new arrivals are waiting for me after I've been away for a while. I wasn't disappointed! You have already seen most of my new purchases including my new Sam Edelman shoes and a Free People Sweater. This same trip I also bought cargo pants, Naughty Monkey purple shoes, two jackets, a Free People dress (I love this brand!), an Obey tank top, a G-Star Raw blouse, Gentle Fawn vest and a blazer. I also bought a couple of funky bracelets and some summer shorts.
Some stuff was sale and some regular priced - all of it was (is) amazing.
Note: I did not really ride the bike in heels.
I like to keep my clothes simple when I am shopping so that they don't deter me from trying something on.
Do you ever wear something difficult to get in/out of in order to keep yourself from trying on new clothes at the store?

Who's The Vice And Who Am I

I thought that since I find myself lacking in the wit department today I would post a "thoughtfully" plucked lyric and show my angsty musical side. That was a half-truth. The name "Natural Born Hippies" (the band whose lyric you find above) fit the style of my outfit better but appropriating the name of the band as my title was not nearly as much fun as picking a random lyric and then trying to write something fun about it. : )
The band is actually quite good.
Also - I found out that I won the Giveaway at Shasie's blog - Live Life in Style !
I am so excited as this is the first time I have ever won an online giveaway - Thanks Shasie.
I am wearing something more laid back and I absolutely love the bag - tooled leather. The strap has a fun braided detail as well so all around it's amazing! : ) The necklace is also something I love - a piece of antler carved into the shape of a leaf. It was a gift a while back and I love wearing it.
Hope you are having a wonderful June!
Any exciting vacation plans in store this summer?

Knee Socks Through The Garden Gate

I'm so glad to be back - I know I only missed one day - but it seems like an eternity!
Before anyone asks I should let you know that I do not live in this house. I wish I had a white gate that led to a "secret" garden in the backyard. That would be fantastic!
This is a cute little outfit that kind of reminds me of my days working at the Library. I'm not sure exactly why, but it does. I was going to wear the sweater again this week but I got food juice on it while cooking supper. I should have been wearing an apron : )
The Shamrock necklace is probably my favourite part of this entire outfit as it used to belong to my
Great-grandmother on my Mum's side.
I think it's fun to wear things that belonged to family members/relatives because the item has a story behind it.

Do you have any special heirloom pieces that you love to wear?

Neutral with a Splash of Blossom

Salut! Today I am posting an outfit from a while ago which showcases some of my favourite shoes - an H&M strappy wedge. I bought them eons ago with a friend of mine - she purchased red and I got the black and gold. Oh how I wish I had gone for both colours! Wisdom states "If the Shoe fits buy one in every colour". I guess I wasn't listening on that particular day.
The first post of my second month blogging and I have to thank all of you again for your support of this blog. I appreciate all of the comments that you have been leaving for me - it's great to get your feedback.
I haven't been commenting as much as I would like the last few days but it is due to an excess amount of work - 14-16 hour days the last little while. I'll be back to commenting soon - I promise!
By the way, if anyone knows where I can purchase a pair of these shoes in red velvet size 38 please let me know.
Have you ever passed something up only to wish you could go back in time to buy it?
